Building cPanel Web Hosting on Amazon AWS

Assume you need to locate hosting for numerous web apps that require cPanel backend access so that clients cannot access each other’s backends. What can you do to set up a secure hosting environment without having AWS cpanel to pay for many hosting accounts?

Getting Started

After successfully creating an account, proceed to the cPanel & WHM AMI on the AWS Marketplace.

Disclaimer #2: The cPanel support staff only works with the official cPanel and WHM AMI. Make sure cPanel is identified as the creator over Dataservermarket.

Navigate to the top-right corner of the cPanel & WHM for Linux page and select “Continue to Subscribe.” You will be sent to a page titled on AWS cpanel”Subscribe to this software,” where you may study the Terms and Conditions. After that, simply click “Continue to Configuration,” which is located in the top-right corner to host a website on AWS.

Configuration Options

When you go to the Configuration page, you’ll see the Fulfillment Option, Software Version, and Region options hosting a website on AWS. Making Changes to Your Instance

Launching Your Instance and Making Your First Login

Because hosting a website on AWS AMI does not automatically assign you a root password, you will need to configure one before you log in to WHM for the first time. Log in as the centos user through SSH cpanel AWS using the key you got previously on Dataservermarket during key pair setup. Connect to the server through SSH with the following syntax: ssh root@IPaddress on AWS cpanel. Once inside, type “sudo su -” to become root, and then “passwd” to change the password for hosting a website on AWS. You will be prompted to enter your password twice.

Now, take note of your IP address so that we can log in to WHM or cPanel for the first time. There are two methods for logging in, however the simplest is to use your server’s IP address and port 2087 for WHM and port 2083 for cPanel AWS cpanel. This would be the login: https://127.0.0.1:2087. Replace 127.0.0.1 with the IP address of your server. Please keep in mind that the first time you log in cpanel AWS, you must accept the SSL warning.
